Sweating has always been thought of as unhealthy, unattractive, and unpleasant. Yet it is arguably the body's healthiest function. Through perspiration your body is excreting any wasteful and unwanted substances. However, excessive sweating is more embarrassing and less healthy. Facial hyperhidrosis is the medical term for excessive face sweating which causes emotional and physical troubles for those who experience this condition. Yet one can keep asking: facial hyperhidrosis - what are my options to make it stop?

Facial hyperhidrosis can be caused by three factors - one's diet, one's physical activities, and one's mental state. The purpose of sweating is to remove all unnecessary and damaging chemicals from one's body, chemicals which are introduced to the body via one's diet. If you remove these unhealthy foods (such as junk food, spicy foods, and hot foods), you are decreasing the chance of this condition.

A person's physical health and possibility of experiencing hyperhidrosis can be affected by their exercise regime. While function of sweating is to rid the body of harmful substances, it is caused by hyperactivity within one's sympathetic nervous system and a change in body temperature. Unhealthy and overweight individuals are most susceptible to these changes. By remaining slim and healthy one will decrease the chance of developing facial hyperhidrosis.

Excessive sweating of any kind can be very uncomfortable and contribute greatly to an individual's emotional stress and anxiety. Facial sweating is predominantly upsetting as it is visible during all interactions. The simplest solution to decrease any emotional trauma is to engage in enjoyable activities and relax.

While these changes to one's daily life can decrease the chance of excessive sweating, there are various home and pharmaceutical remedies which can be administered. A home remedy which has been in use for many years with much success is the vinegar bath. To do this an individual would add a cup of vinegar to their bath and soak his/her body for approximately 30 minutes. As is aforementioned, this treatment does have a high success rate.

If you are more trusting of pharmaceutical and medical treatments there are certain remedies which can be considered. It is best to consult a certified doctor to attain the correct anti-perspiration medication should you choose to use tablets as a treatment. This is advisable as certain side-effects can occur with some medications. There are also surgeries available as treatment, these include having Botox injections and sympathectomy. Each surgery blocks the sweat glands, either by injecting a protein or cutting the sweat gland nerves.

Finally, facial hyperhidrosis is a stressful and sometimes humiliating condition but it is manageable. There are various treatments available such as home remedies, surgeries, and possible changes in lifestyle to prevent excessive sweating. Yet, much deliberation must be done when determining which treatment to use to ensure no disastrous side-effects are experienced.
